About HIF

Health Insurance Fund of Australia, or HIF, for short, is a growing not-for-profit health fund registered with the Private Health Administration Council. The fund started in 1954 as the Western Australian Government Railways (WAGR) Employees Hospital and Medical Fund Inc, and their member-focused approach continues to serve a growing number of Australians.

In 2010, a name change saw ‘HIF’ come to life while the company has continued to pride themselves on giving members affordable health insurance and great value. HIF is one of a handful of funds that allow members total freedom to choose their healthcare provider. Any surpluses are returned to members in the form of lower premiums, increased rebates and new benefits and services. For HIF, it’s about members, not profits.
